Okay so I've experienced something new this time... I've been posting on here the past few days because I honestly thought I had found something to help me but I guess I didn't. I have been up since 4am and I have vomited at least 6 times. Nothing is coming out my throat is raw and I feel like complete death. It has never lasted this long. I am going to be in my 4th week of this Monday... but the new symptom I've been having is severe back pain. The pain in my back will start first now, THEN the pain in my stomach. Then when I can't take it anymore I just start retching burping throwing up stomach acids and spitting. I don't know how much more of this I can take. I don't know what to do anymore. I'm desperate

Please call your doctor and see if you can be admitted. You must be totally worn out.
Back pain can be anything-- pulled muscles, broken rib, kidney stones, any number of things. If your doctor is not available, are you able to get to an urgent care center? Maybe someone there would be able to direct admit you. If you are dehydrated there are a lot of serious secondary complications. If all fails, then please get to the ER. Please let us know how you are doing. I would also be at my breaking point after that long of a period of vomiting. __________________ ginny CVSA Moderator

I don't know if you saw my post but I went to the ER the other night. They were very mean to me and told me that I was sick because I was constipated. They didn't run any tests except a blood sample. They told me my potassium was a 1.5 and they gave me two giant pills and sent me home with a stool softener. I'm not constipated I am definitely in the middle of a severe episode. The only hard thing about all this is that I moved to a new state and none of these hospitals know me. I even had papers from all the times I was admitted in Ohio and they didn't want to look at them. I am exhausted and stomach is very sore. I've been drinking life water and Gatorade. I can't eat anything at all.

People have been known to pull muscles during Vomiting. With the force of the Vomiting. Can’t say that I’d what it is..the muscles start cramping and it kind of triggers everything from there. Low potassium can cause spasming as well, which it sounds like you have had issues with. My suggestion would be to try a new ER, get your PCP to refer you to either a GI or neurologist that be knowledgeable in CVS. If you can’t find one that way, please contact the office at
Cvsa@cvsaonline.org. Have the meds to help reduce the episodes is necessary. We have changed doctors more than I care to admit. I know it’s hard, but you have to keep pushing. If they took you off meds and it changed, the should be altering or putting you back on them. My son changes his meds and combo of meds a couple times a year. But it is mostly when we pushed. A lot. Get in to your PCP if going back or going to another ER is not an option. My son’s episodes can range anywhere from 2 weeks to 17 weeks. His average is 7 weeks. So I know how frustrating and difficult it is. For us it was all about pushing. This doesn’t work for us. BE persistent. I know it’s hard when you have no energy and don’t feel like fighting. Take someone with you that can advocate for you, if possible. Contact the patient experience coordinator or advocate and have them meet you there to ensure that you are listened to. __________________ Blynda Message Board Moderator Monthly Support Call Moderator

I have the same problems with the back pain that the ER gave me a shot of a muscle relaxer with the Morphine and my potassium level at 1 time was at 1.5 and I had to stay 7 hours with a bag of potassium and 1 pill of it that tasted like kitty litter #gross the muscle relaxer med I'm on now is called Norflex I was on Flexirl but that was too low of a dose for me and wasn't doing anything for the pain and now I'm back on some stronger pain meds and it really helps me with my cycles 2 weeks ago was my last Major CSV attack that I had and I felt like I wanted to die from it. every never admit me for the attacks cause after they give me fluids and everything that I need my system just resets itself afterwards and I go home and sleep it off and I feel better for about 3 days if I'm in a full cycle my cycles usually run from a few days up to 3 weeks non stop I hate the 3 weeks non stop cycles it drains me to the point I just want to give up.
