Awareness Day

Do you know the CVS International Awareness Day is to do exactly that. Raise Awareness.
What does that mean? If you are changing your profile picture or adding your name to a thunderclap list, it is intended to help everyone have an opportunity to engage in a conversation about CVS or any other cause they are raising awareness for.
There are literally hundreds of ways to raise awareness. I inadvertently did just that wearing a Run for the Bucket T-shirt when I went for an urgent care doctors visit. Unrelated to CVS. All the same, the t-shirt started a conversation. I was even able to hand out a “what is CVS “ pamphlet that I happened to have in my car. It was a conversation. It was letting one more person know about CVS.
I have left pamphlets in Doctors offices, in the waiting room at the E.R. Does this mean that some one could pick it up and change theirs or someone else’s life because they read it? It does. One person read about CVS.
Ways you can raise awareness on International Awareness Day:

Wear Blue
Wear a Blue Ribbon
Dye your hair blue
Host a local meet-up
Take pamphlets or brochures to doctors and E.R. waiting rooms
Wear a CVS Awareness T-shirt
Present info to classes or medical groups

See the T-shirt that started this conversation on our Facebook page!

You can email the office at Cvsa@cvsaonline.org to get some.

They are also on the website. http://cvsaonline.org/wp-content/uploads/2017/06/Brochure-updated-3-25-2016.pdf

Hi Blynda 🌞
I have lots of friends on a car site in England 🙂
Today I put a thread up about CVS and asked the people to sign the petition 🌞
I said it was our awareness day 🙂
The response I had was very good , no one had heard about CVS 🌞
And the people were shocked that this really happens to people 🙂
Lots of people signed the petition 🌞
And also now lots of people know about CVS 🌞
I really happy about this 🙂
Take care
X

That is wonderful! I feel like I see more media from England and CVS than we do here in the US. Was the petition the one for having it recognized as a disability?

Hi Wynnak 🌞
Someone in my group of friends said to me I should ask my doctor about Topirmate 🙂
The person only knew I have CVS because of the thread I put up on the 5th as it was awareness day 🌞
Have you ever heard of it 🌞
Thank you 🙂

Shelley, one of my kids is on that med and it has helped her migraines tremendously.

It took her several tries before she could tolerate it and she had to increase in very small doses.

She is not perfect but she had a long history on severe migraines lasting several days at a time, from around age 10.  This has been the most effective migraine prevention med for her.

I just got off of topamax (topiramate) myself. My son was prescribed it for his CVS but it was the only med that he flat out refused to take. The small dosages seem to be tolerable and it is prescribed for CVS as well especially when used for the migraine side of things.

as Ginny was mentioning make sure if you start it, to taper the dosages up and down. The doctor should know about the protocol. But, yes it is very effective for migraine and therefore CVS prevention medication.
