My recent trip to the GP yielded a prescription for BOTH CoQ10 and L-Carnitine. I had really only asked for the Carnitine to be scripted so it would be cheaper to obtain than OTC. I had planned to buy the Quinogel Solubilized Ubiquinol CoQ10 Hydrosoluable from Kaneka after reading that this is supposed to be the most easily aborbable form to use.

My question is: is the scripted form likely to be a generic version of CoQ10, and should I hold out to get the OTC instead?

The CoQ10 I intended to purchase online is $27.95 for 60 soft gels of ** mg ubiquinol. I called the pharmacy I use to ask them about the CoQ10 i would recieve if I filled it through them. The pharmacist got the bottle but could not tell me a brand name, if it was ubiquinone or ubiquinol. He could tell me the are gel caps and there is no Vit E in them. I will have to get the script filled to see what my price after insurance will be to compare to the OTC cost.

I am leaning toward ordering one of the OTC versions online that have been mentioned on these boards in the past, but I'd like others opinions that have used CoQ10 before.

Does anyone have any feedback on this?

Is the pharmacist pulling a bottle off the store shelf or is he using a pharmaceutical grade product?  ask him for the 800 number and have him call. Or you call while you are going to pick it up, should only be the one call.

We are all wanting the pharmaceutical grade CoQ10 for the control and my understanding is that this should be Kaneka.

He pulled the bottle off the shelf and said he had no idea what brand it is. I think it might be safe to assume it is not pharmaceutical grade. Hopefully I can get the discount that has been mentioned before when purchasing online for being a CVS patient. At least it won't break the bank if I don't.
Thanks Ginny!

Lol, well I wish I could straighten that out for you. I actually called epic4health this morning. The woman I spoke with new what CVS was and said that they are still honoring the discount, and that all I have to do is mention CVS in the comments section when I make the online purchase. Then we got cut off. So I wasn't able to hear how much the discount is, or how I will actually get the difference back. I just went ahead and placed my order this morning anyway and I'm assuming they'll credit the difference back to my card once the order processes. I saw where it already sent me a shipped notification so I'll go in later and see what's happening.
Thank you for the additional info!

Update.
Got my CoQ10 and they charged me $21 before taxes. Regular price is $27.95. That was for a 60 count bottle of 50 mg gel caps. I didn't figure my dose before I ordered it and just assumed I'd go with the smaller strength caps first,  but now that I've calculated it I know that bottle will only last me about 15 days. So next time I'll be buying the 60 count bottle of 100mg instead. Those are $49.95 regular price. Once I order them I'll update again on the discount they gave me.

Where do I go to find the correct doses of supplements? My daughter has been well for two years, now starting to have episodes again. I can't remember any of the doses!

Best to look at the study that used the supplements and medications.  You can find this study on the CVSA Web Site under the Research Tab.  The standard formula is in the study.

You can also check Dr. Boles web page, also under Research.  And I think MitoAction.org  has the doses posted.

If nothing helps you please get in touch with me privately.
