If you are talking about my post (scooky1) most of the pages are here at this web site,
#1- I have a copy of the Empiric guidelines by Robert R. Fleisher.M
#2-a letter on letter head from my doc with a scrip for the meds called for in the above guidlines, his letter is written to the ER Dr, whoever it may be that asks " please follow the empiric guidlines etc." along with a scrip for dilodid and how often to give it.
I have about 200 pages of this stuff, the reason I have it is because this winter the staff at St. Charles in Bend decided I was just a junky and refused to treat me seven days in a row. the state police said if they caught me driving while sick and trying to get to the hospital I  is going to lose my DL so I went by ambulance, nothing but ice. the insurance went to my Dr and the ER and ask'd WTF is going on here why did this man come seven times in a row and you did not fix him. it was going to turn into a big scandle so this really nice lady who works behind the scene at my Dr's office printed out most of the papers and went to the ER which is accross the street to let them know I am truly sick took a copy of my doc's and they seemed to have changed abit.
all in all - the guidlines and the letter from your Dr telling them (ER Dr's) to follow them was all the Dr glanced at last week when I went in ER.
They can still ignor the docs and that is why it's so good to have someone with you who knows whats up to be on your side. Steve

For the professional publications, click on the top of this page to go to the CVSA web site.  Under the tabs at the top of the web site page, you will find categories.  Many of the papers discussed are under the Research tab.  There you will locate the Empiric Guidelines, the NASPHGAN paper, the anecdotal study on the supplements and more.  For Dr. Fleishers study on 41 Adults and for the paper he co authored with Fiona McRonald, on Anticipatory Vomiting, I think you need to Google the name of the papers or even just search for the authors.  Most of the research can be located by a web search as well.

Steve--what a wonderful act of kindness from your doctors office.  If only other medical staff would make the effort.

So you can see why I am so afraid to find a new Dr. The lady that helpped out is great! (Carma) and the staff are so nice and understanding. the health insurance Co. was going to open an investegation into why I had been in the ER seven days in a row and not been treated and this lady told them she would take care of it, she sat in on my next appnt with Dr Russell and pretty much told him what to write in the letter to ER dr's as far as following the empiric guidelines and to give me dilaudid as well as the other IV fluids etc. she also copied everything she felt relavent and to bury the ER people in facts. It took me years of asking many Dr's,at first my current Dr gave me a scrip to the ER that said _____mg of dilaudid per hr(they usualy say yea right) and just do what they want but this is much more offical, really lucky to have found that lady! Maybe print this page and all the posts and let your Dr read it, maybe it could help them write a letter of introduction for you.

This is great help Steve.  Do you know the title of Carma? and can we clone her? [smile]

I am forwarding onto the office, maybe we can get some additional information out to patients and doctors on getting instructions followed.  Even a direct call from our PCP to the ER did not help us.

Thank you for the help.
