Hi all.

im just looking for advice really-

As many of you know im having a hard time with my CVS. But for the past few weeks there seems to be no trigger what so ever which makes it harder to get control of. For the past week however i have noticed i have been really cold and i have had a blocked nose with yellow discharge (which i was told meant the body is fighting off a infection) and i know this could be a possible trigger for my recent episodes.

Im currantly on a complete multi vitamin tablet which i thought would help me but it doesnt seem to be helping. The past two episodes have lasted for about 5 days (which is normal for me) but i would get better during the day and it would start again in the morning or the other way round (which isnt normal for me).

I started another episode last friday following the recent patton and only just got better a few hours ago (but i cant be sure it is deffinatly over).

I have been avoiding the hospital as it causes too much tension between me and my family, but now im beginning to wonder if i am not getting better because i am not getting treatment when im ill.

I have noticed when im in a cycle i get these bruises appear when there is no apparent knocks or hits in the area and when i get better the bruises seem to fade. I also get alot of muscle pain after a cycle which can take alot of time to ease.

I know the first thing you are all going to suggest is for me to consult a doctor which is why first thing in the morning i am going to make a appointment and also call through to Dr. Chong for more advice until i see him on the 30th.

Does any of these symptoms sound familiar?
Does anyone have any Advice for me?

Thank you all
Shaynie
P.S - i just want to feed myself with as much information as i can to see if i can help myself in any way.

Hi, my names Lisa i was just diagnosed today actually, but ive been going through CVS for a little over 5 years.  I have never gotten unexplained bruises but i know what ur talking about when u say you try to avoid the hospital because of family, it causes huge friction between me and my family when i get so bad i want to go in. One thing that helps me when im trying to fight it at home, is getting into a hot bath, and then if i get the sweats which is one of my symptoms ill turn the cold water on, and it goes back and forth but my pain will totally subside and i will not vomit. i dont know what it is but its the only time i get relief.
 Hope it helps

Hi Lisa

before the unexplained bruising i use to get red blotchy rashes appear on my arms and chest and sometimes face and then they spread. However now the blotching has calmed down and the bruises hae started. (they are not greeney yellow bruises, they are red/blue bruises).

Alot of CVSers get relief from a hot bath during a episode (including me) but one of the time my mum wouldnt take me to the hospital i become really weak and decided to ger relief from the bath, however i was too weak to get back out of the bath and all my joints froze and i couldnt get out of the bath (wile all this was happening i was also having a panic attack which didnt help). Ever since then i have been worried about getting in the bath during a attack incase something else like that happenes.

Thanks for letting me know you havent experienced the bruises, i will keep a note of that (so i know so far it is not a normal thing)

Thanks Lisa

Hi Shayni. I'm inclined to agree with you when you say an infection could be triggering your recent bout. My daughter has pneumonia and is dealing with the worst and longest episode of CVS so far. We spent 12 hours in the ER until they finally admitted her. So frustrating for everyone involved. Reading everyones input is so helpful. I hope all goes well for you. Celine

Shaynie, I am sorry your still having difficulties.  We have discussed many times before that infections.viruses/illness  can trigger episodes.

Multi Vitamins don't replace all of what you should be taking in with food, they are simply a supplement.

CVS isn't generally a lingering or progressive process, when an episode is over, it's over.  Dr. Chong is in the best position to answer your questions.  Isn't it my understanding that he is questioning whether or not you truly have CVS?

Like anyone else, a cvs'er can pick up anything that anyone else can get abbeit the flu, colds, sinusitis.... etc.  Not everything that happens to us everyday is related to CVS.  You should take care of yourself if you have something else going on... just like any other person without CVS should.

Sorry luv, as we have said before there are no magic pills.  You really need to consult with your medical team.

Pattie
