My stepson has experienced CVS for nearly 20 years. He uses MJ to relieve the symptoms, but has also experienced legal problems because of this. Since CBDs are legal in our state, I am looking for anyone with experience in using CBDs to alleviate or eliminate CVS symptoms. Dosage levels and quality of product are my largest concerns at this time. Any assistance or information would be welcome. Thank you.

Currently there is a lot of confusion over CVS and CHS-- Cannabinoid Hyperemesis Syndrome.    Has your step son had the required testing to diagnose CVS?  Has he taken a break from the medical marijuana to see if his symptoms improve?

I am not sure how the medical community is dealing with prescribed Cannabis. The symptoms of CHS closely match those of CVS.  If your step son has tried not using-- or is using street marijuana-- but keeps having symptoms, he is probably going to have to stop the use of marijuana.

Those I know who are in legal states, mine included, are using CBD without (or with very low dose) THC daytime and a Cannabis product, often a vape, with some THC while sleeping.  I know of only a few CVS patients who have been helped with Cannabis.

There is a not very active section of the Message Board with some information on Cannabis. You can also search the archives.  A Google search will often bring up information stating that CVS and CHS are the same condition.

We are trying to get the difference between the two corrected each time an incorrect report comes out.

We believed at first it was CHS, but he stopped using mj and began experiencing profound symptoms on daily basis. He has gone through whole gamut of clinical and physio for gastric distress. Drugs, drugs, drugs. Some leave him non-functional. I will continue my trek. Thank you for your timely reply. Cheers for now.

Try sending a message to SmokeEater, he has had CVS for many years and was responding to medical cannabis.  A couple of others you will see in the Cannabis section include DemonCleaner.  They might have some better advice.

I hope you find the answer.  My daughter had CVS from age 3 and once she aged out of pedi care the medical care was atrocious, especially in the ER.

Good luck.

My daughter also smoked and the lines were blurred as far as CBD vs. CHS. I am convinced that the smoking does NOT help the CVS. Typically smoking alleviates nausea but not in the case of my daughter. In addition to her meds for CVS (amatriptaline daily and klonopin as needed) she added hemp oil and we have seen great results. She did research his well and settled on “everyday advanced hemp oil” from charlottes web. It is great quality but a little expensive. The site is cwhemp.com. We got the ***ml. It has lasted her over a month so far. And no episodes. Highly recommend. We encourage our daughter NOT to smoke. We are not anti marijuana but in her case with the episodes farther and farther apart we don’t want to make any mistakes with her health. Hope this helps. Keep me posted if you so the hemp oil. Curious to see if it helps.

CBD's Is what most CVSers need to help with a attack, the higher the CBD's the Better  BE VERY CAREFULL, Remember under Federal law Cannabis is still illegal so any CBD's oil you buy on line or by mail will have LESS than 5% CBD in it and its from the hemp stalk now the flower, so guess for the lack of a better term, its crummy worthless CBD oil, if you live in a State where its legal get the highest CBD you can get BUT you still need a State Cannabis card, for many CVSers who have pain also That's the THC part and the best for that is the highest THC & CBD you can, I have been on it now for a year and a half and have gone from being sick 5 days a week for 12 to 19 or more hrs at a wack  down just just one day a week and even a few times I have gone 2 weeks without one, We have a MD at my dispensary where I get mine and he says if you build up a tolerance to it back  just go off it for a week and it will go away

Hello I was reading y’all messages above & I suffer from cvsa as well for about a year. So far I’ve been getting sick every month & have been having horrible pains in the mornings. I use all the meds my doctors gave me but only help so far. I started to use MJ to cope bc that’s the best thing so far that’s been helping but I do not want to smoke it so I was looking into the CBD oils. However I live in Texas MJ is not legal yet but they have CBD oils here & a shop as well. I was looking at Smokeeater post & said the highest THC & CBD will be better but I don’t think they will have CBD with the THC. but any recommendations on what kinds of CBD oils to use? Or hemp oils? I need all the help I can get.

Smokeeater was in a legal Cannabis state when he cycled. A friend who had legal Cannabis brought him some and he was through the cycle within 30 minutes.

I think this happened twice.  He would not be able to duplicate the product in his home state.  His CVS MD prescribed synthetic cannabis but I don't think that helped.

My memory is that he tried hemp oil with no benefit.

He is now in a legal Cannabis state and has a prescription.  As far as I know the Cannabis has lessened the cycles and severity but I don't think he is cycle free.  You might try an email to him and ask him if he could update us.

Hi I am Smoke, I have been on Cannabis for 2 years now and I have gone from having CVS attacks 5 days a week down to just one and sometimes a triggered one, I have gone as long as 3 weeks with out an attack, Never went more than a few days before cannabis, Using the CBD from hemp is a waste, not near enough CBD's in the hemp stock only about 1%, I use the highest CBD and THC in the oil I can get, I also use the wax called dab  but its very strong so I only use that at night or when my nerve pain is real bad, If you can buy CBD oil from the store or on line DON"T  ITS USLESS  or SNAKE OIL, Cannabis still isn't legal on The Federal level yet BUT there's a bill before congress that Trump said he's sign protecting the States who go the cannabis route so if you can buy it on line or at a store its USELESS because its not legal to sell and if your State has Medical Cannabis then you'll have to go by there guidelines

There is one company that I am aware of that sells CBD in pill, liquid and vape form that is legal in all 50 states. Here is Houston there was a raid on smoke shops that sold products that contained "other" ingredients. During the press conference they kept associating it the K2 and Kush, which CBD is NOT! So I did some research and found a company call Kannaway. I stumbled across this site while looking for information for a friend who's son has a severe form of cyclic hyperemsis in hopes of find some clinical/personal experience with CBD for symptom control. I hope this helps and let me know if you have any other questions I can help with.

That is what Smoke eater is referring to. The CBD oil online is NOT the same as if you were in a legal state. It comes from different parts of the plant and is a waste of money.

Quality CBD from on-line is not a waste of time. There are two different plants, marajuana and hemp. "Legal" is referring to marajuana. MJ is high in THC and low in CBD. Hemp is high in CBD and low in THC. CBD from hemp stock is legal in all 50 states. The flower and seeds are higher in THC which makes it above the legal concentration (which is 0.3%). All studies are done on CBD. THC has shown little medical effects (some show a slight effects in pain management). You do need to know where your hemp CBD is coming from and how many mg you are taking.  I've seen some bottles that are ***mg for $25 but the recommended daily serving is **-**mg/day. So a bottle will only last a coupe of days. Also where it comes from is important. It is illegal to export to states its was not grown in by the 2014 Farm Bill. So if its grown in Kansas is illegal to sell in TX. And hemp will absorb any of the impurities in the air/ground and is planted in areas of sever pollution for that exact reason. So if your hemp CBD is grown in soil that has ever had pesticides or herbicides you will ingest it.

Are you saying that cannabis has little medical effect as a whole or just in regards to CVS? Or that all tests are only done on CBD not THC? I'm confused.
