I was diagnosed with CVS 2 and half years ago , I was put on amytriptylyn and seemed to feeling better at first but then about every 3-4 months it would come back day after day , same time etc. After getting no help from Dr but upping my script! I decided two weeks ago to see another gastroenterologist and I was diagnosed yesterday with Gastroparesis. He did a digestive pass thru test and I'm not digesting my food fast enough. Also during my agony I discovered that bathing in extremely hot water will subside the vomiting enough to breath and keep some water down. The showers have kept me out of the ER from dehydration.

This is not uncommon. Ginny may pipe in later with information on it being a common diagnosis in conjunction with CVS.

As for the hot showers, this too is pretty common. An alternative that is getting a lot of attention now is Capsaicin cream (alternate spellings, look for a z instead of an s) you rub it on your stomach and it can have the same effect as the showers. An alternative to a high water bill 😉 We have tried heating pads and water bottles. Thanks for sharing your tip.

We have other members on here with the same diagnosis.  One thing though is that digestion can slow way down, esp on meds such as ami and when you are getting close to a cycle.

Dr. V says digestion is faster in CVS except as the cycle approaches.  Then add in the meds that slow things down and it all becomes more muddy.

I hope you are able to get help with the gastroparesis.  Let us know how you are doing.

See my post about appendicitis. Your symptoms and treatment so far sound very similar to mine. Before I got to appendicitis gastroparesis was also suggested for me. Good luck.
